Since you are not a Ford technician, an international tech would probably have to go through the Motorcraft website or contact Rotunda directly foe subscriptions. 1 Car ECU Junior Member Thread Starter Join Date: Nov 2017 Posts: 4 Likes: 0 Received 0 Likes on 0 Posts Ford VCM 2 or IDS tool Anyone ever bought one of these (or the cheap chinese clones) Id really like to avoid dealers totally in the future. As Ford techs we can now pay yearly or pay monthly which if my memory serves me is around $40. VCM or VCM2 is (Vehicle Commutations Module) Ver 1 or Ver 2. You now buy a license for the IDS software, not the VCM. IDS is (Integrated Diagnostic System) <<< The software. the real IDS from Rotunda costs almost 4000 if not more. im gonna be keeping my truck till the body completely rusts off or i blow up both engine and transmission. You used to have to purchase a yearly subscription but Ford has changed that. I have a few questions about the Ford VCM IDS. I have heard that out of date subscriptions turn your IDS into an expensive code reader. You will need to keep your subscription current if you plan to be capable of reprogramming modules and retaining all of IDS functionality. You may decide it will be better in the long run. Read THIS TOPIC for more info on the new VCM. The next generation VCM is being released later this year and as a result I suspect there will be a lot of 'old' VCM's for sale which might drop the price on them. It all depends on how much this used equipment is going to cost.
